I’m Sorry

People say I apologize too much. Maybe they’re right, but sometimes I think our society doesn’t say it often enough. So, for the person who needs to hear it today – I’m sorry.

I don’t care about your race, religion, gender, age or core beliefs right now. I care about your heart. I don’t know you. I don’t know what you’re dealing with or what kind of day you’ve had.

I DO know, however, as citizens of this broken world, we are all hurting in some way and to some degree. Whether it is a nagging ache that has captivated your thoughts or an abiding pain rooted deep in your heart, I’m sorry.

I’m sorry for your grief, your loneliness, your anger and your shame. I’m sorry for the evil that has entered your life. I’m sorry for the confusion, the sense of despair, the betrayal, the bitter words. I’m sorry for your physical wounds and your mental anguish.

I wish I could ease your pain and restore your peace. I wish I could replace your sorrow with joy. I wish I could give you a sense of safety, security and belonging.

But I cannot.

I CAN, however, introduce you to the One who has the power to do all these things and so much more. Jesus knows what kind of day you’ve had. He understands your circumstances. He sees your heart and identifies with your pain, your fear, your frustration.

Jesus knows you. He sees you. He hears you. He feels your emotions and values your tears.

He weeps for you. He loves you.

Most importantly, He died for you.

He wants to walk your journey with you. He wants to carry you through the storms. He wants to calm your fears and heal your wounds.

He wants you to know He loves you. He wants you to know He willingly sacrificed His life for you. He wants you to acknowledge His existence. He longs to hear you say, “I’m sorry. Please forgive me.”

He wants you to accept His gift of life.

Then He will restore your joy and give you peace. He will give you wisdom and clarity. He wants to protect you and guard your heart. He will never leave you or betray you.

He will walk with you through good times and bad. He will shine His face upon you and bless all your days.

In case you need to hear, I’m sorry. I want you to know that I care. I care enough to introduce you to our Savior.

I am sorry for a lot of things, but I will never be sorry for that.

I am just an ordinary middle-aged woman striving to make a difference one word at a time. . . no matter what hat I am wearing at the time.
